What are the odds of loosing 10 hands in a row at the blackjack table?

Are they different if you play with a single deck or multi decks?
If you play reasonably and dont make stupid decisions. I am looking for the statistical odds. Are the odds different for single vs. multi deck play?

    I used to be a casino dealer and the odds of losing 10 hands in a row are better then you winning 2 in a row. You have to understand that every game in the casino is set up for you to lose. Casinos were not built on winners. Whatever money you take to a casino you better expect to lose it. Winning all depends on the person , are you going to be happy winning 50.00 or 500.00 how much is enough? You HAVE to know when to stop. The longer you stay the more you will lose.

    yes it is different, in multi decks you are dealing with numerous cards thus a combination of lower cards can bring you no luck. It is true that casino’s are built to win.

    Clearly it depends on how you play. If you take a card over and over and bust every hand you can lose 50 hands in a row probably.

    It would depend on the rules of the casino, not the number of decks. Blackjack is a 50/50 game almost with a slight edge to the house. So the actual probability would be (1/2*1/2.. 10 times) or 1/2 to the 10th power. So a good estimate would be 0.098 percent chance of it happening. With house edge, probaly closer to 0.1 % chance.

    In blackjack, using the mathematically optimized ‘basic strategy’, the rough percentages are as follows:

    Player win – 43.3 percent
    Dealer win – 47.9 percent
    Tie – 8.8 percent

    Of course, many of those player wins are for double the bet (in the case of a double down) or one-and-one-half times the bet (in the case of blackjack), making the ‘payback’ on blackjack better than this.

    However, the question is what are the odds of losing 10 in a row. I am going to assume that you will not consider a ‘push’ as breaking the streak, ie if you lose six hands, push, and then lose four more hands, you will still be considered to have a 10-hand losing streak.

    Discounting ties, the dealer beats player 52.5 percent of the time. (47.9 divided by the sum of 47.9 and 43.3).

    The odds of losing ten hands without winning is .525^10, or 0.16%. In layman’s terms, if you walk into the casino 1000 times, and you are willing to sit through up to 10 losing hands in order to get one winning hand, you should be able to get a winning hand 998.4 times out of 1000.
